This past weekend was the stage race in Monza Targa Tricolore Porsche Trophy as announced and it was a unique spectacle in the temple of speed.
Matteo Torta was well prepared for the appointment of the house and pointed to the podium. Expectations amply repaid during the day on Sunday June 30.
The weekend started well for the couple Torta-Fulgenzi that in the last bars of the qualifying session conquered the pole position in 1'52'' 560, ousted from the top of the authors Babini-Foresio of 1'52'' 733.
At the start on the grid aligned them selves Torta-Fulgenzi followed by Babini-Foresio and third Postiglione-Roda. The race started right away with the tussle between the three cars in mind: Postiglione exceeded Babini at the start and he started to chase the young tart. In the first variant of the Monza track maybe too rush of Postiglione led him to cut the chicane without giving the position thus earned the driver from Monza, as required by the Regulation. The race continued with a run of Torta toward the opponent Postiglione. When changing driver Porsche fell to third place with 29 on board Enrico Fulgenzi, pilot from the great experience that has allowed the rapid recovery of the second square and the last lap of the run-crowned Ascari Postiglione-Roda.
Matteo Torta: "It is a unique feeling to win for the first time since I run in the car on the track at home ... after so many mishaps maybe it was fate that victory came just in the track live up to when I was a kid.
I thank everyone: my family, my friends, my fans, sponsors. A special thanks to Heaven Motorsport team that has worked hard to afford to have a performance car and an equally heartfelt thanks to my partner, team manager and friend Enrico Fulgenzi that is teaching me a lot. I took a nice revenge and I hope that this is the first victory in a long line ... for sure we are on the right track!
A thought goes to Andrea and Allan Simonsen Mamè two young drivers who have lost their lives doing the sport I love. When I learned of the death of Mamè, Sunday after winning the pole, the news made me sad and I immediately turned my thoughts to him and the people around you. "
